About Utilo

A small, privacy-first collection of online utilities that run entirely in your browser.

What this is

Utilo is a free collection of small, focused tools — JSON formatting, image resizing, password generation, PDF merging, and more. Every tool runs in your browser. No file you upload, no text you paste, and no value you generate ever travels to a server we control.

The goal is simple: be the fastest, cleanest place to do the routine tasks developers, designers, and writers do every day — without the ads, the upsells, the "sign up to continue", or the uncomfortable thought of pasting a customer secret into a stranger's server.

Who runs it

Utilo is a solo side project, currently maintained by one person. It is not backed by a startup, a VC, or an advertising network. The hosting bill is paid out of pocket; the only thing monetised is the time it takes to build the next tool.

Why client-side only

Sending data to a server — even briefly, even "just for processing" — creates risk that the data could be logged, cached, leaked, or subpoenaed. Modern browsers can do almost everything a small server-side tool can do, often faster, and without any of that risk.

A handful of tools we'd love to ship (live currency conversion, DNS lookups, server-side video transcoding) genuinely cannot be done client-side. Those stay out of scope rather than become a quiet exception to the rule.

How to help

The best help is sharing tools that solved a problem for you, on social media, in Slack groups, or with colleagues. Bug reports and suggestions are very welcome — see the Contact page.
