ASCII covers 0–127: codes 0–31 and 127 are non-printing control characters, 32 is space, and 33–126 are the printable letters, digits, and punctuation. This reference runs entirely in your browser.

A complete ASCII reference: every code from 0 to 127 with its decimal, hexadecimal, octal, and binary value, the character itself, and its name. Search by number, hex, character, or name. Runs entirely in your browser.

How to use it

No account, no upload — it all happens on your device.

1
Browse the full table of codes 0–127.
2
Search by number, hex, character, or name to filter.
3
Read the decimal, hex, octal, and binary for each character.

How the table is laid out

Three ranges, one standard.

  • 0–31 and 127 — control characters (non-printing) like tab, newline, and escape.
  • 32 — the space character.
  • 33–126 — printable characters: punctuation, digits, and the uppercase and lowercase alphabet.

Handy code landmarks

Digits 09 are 48–57, uppercase AZ are 65–90, and lowercase az are 97–122. The gap of 32 between a capital and its lowercase is why flipping bit 5 changes case.

Frequently asked

What is ASCII?
ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) maps the numbers 0–127 to characters — letters, digits, punctuation, and control codes. It's the foundation modern encodings like UTF-8 build on: the first 128 Unicode code points are identical to ASCII.
What are control characters?
Codes 0–31 and 127 are non-printing control characters that once directed teleprinters and terminals — things like tab (9), line feed (10), carriage return (13), and escape (27). Many still matter today for text formatting and protocols.
How do I find a character's code?
Type the character, its decimal or hex number, or part of its name into the search box. For example 'A' finds 65 / 0x41, and 'tab' finds code 9.
