Watermark tips that age well
- Keep opacity low. 15–25% is enough to read, high enough that someone scanning the document still notices.
- Angle it. A 30–45° diagonal watermark is hardest to crop out and reads naturally on both portrait and landscape pages.
- Use uppercase short text."DRAFT", "CONFIDENTIAL", "COPY" — short, all caps, recognisable at a glance.
- Watermarks aren't security. A determined attacker can re-create the underlying PDF. Use them to signal status and ownership, not to prevent copying.
Frequently asked
Can I add an image watermark instead of text?
Not yet — this version handles text watermarks. Image watermarks are on the roadmap; the underlying library (pdf-lib) supports them, so it's a small addition.
Will the watermark cover my content?
It overlays your content. Lower the opacity until the page text underneath is still readable. 15–25% is the usual sweet spot for a subtle but visible mark.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Stamping happens in your browser via pdf-lib. The file never leaves your device.
